Step 1 Selection Process

The application process to send your child to a summer camp will take a few simple steps. Each of our three summer camps has a different check list of items needed to complete the registration process of each child. Our camps are designed for children who come from challenging backgrounds, ranging from abuse and neglect to high-risk neighborhoods. Many live in foster care, others live on the edge of poverty in the inner-city.

We will make every effort to include your child, but due to the popularity of our camps, we must prioritize our campers using the following criteria

  1. Returning campers who reside in Orange County.
  2. New or returning Campers who are a current participant in our Outreach Mentoring Program at Mariners Church.
  3. Returning campers who reside outside of Orange County.
  4. New campers who reside in Orange County.
  5. New campers who reside outside of Orange County.

What are the chances my camper will be accepted?
(teen leadership & leadership extension camps only)

Applications are processed and accepted on a first come, first served basis until the camp is full. Turn in your application early and reserve your space. Typical response to applications received during the months listed below.

  • February-April = Chances are good you can attend.
  • May-June = OK. The camp is likely over 60% to 70% full and you may be accepted or forced to join our “wait list”. (“wait list” does not mean you can attend camp) Send your application anyways.
  • July-August = Not great. Camp is normally full by this time but there are cancelations that create space. Send in your application and join our “wait list”. Please call and check for availability. There still may be space.

Step 2 The Costteens

The only cost that a camper must meet to attend camp is a small registration fee. This fee is non-refundable if a camper is subsequently unable to attend camp. The true cost of camp is $275 per camper depending on the session. Lighthouse is grateful for the generous donors whose contributions subsidize most of the camp expenses.

Registration fee schedule:

$15.00 if postmarked or received before April 30, 2010
$20.00 if postmarked or received before June 30, 2010
$25.00 if postmarked or received after July 1, 2010
